INTERNATIONAL CONFERENCE ON COMMERCIAL AND COMPETITION LAW

International Conference on Commercial and Competition Law

On 27 May, the Law School of the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens hosted the International Conference on Commercial and Competition Law, jointly organised with Queen Mary University of London (Prof. Ioannis Kokkoris), Tsinghua University and Renmin University (Prof. Xin Tang, Prof. Liu Junhai, Prof. Chenying Zhang, Prof. Xu Haiyan, Dr. Zhuozhuo Li).

Bringing together distinguished academics, regulators and practitioners from Europe and China, the Conference explored contemporary developments in corporate law, capital markets and financial regulation, competition law, merger control, digital markets, foreign direct investment screening, and the legal challenges arising from technological innovation, artificial intelligence and global economic integration.

This Conference stands as a vivid example of the value of international academic cooperation. Through the exchange of research perspectives and best practices, participants engaged in a meaningful dialogue amongst academics and policymakers on the future on law and regulation in a rapidly evolving global environment.

Such initiatives strengthen academic ties, foster comparative legal research and contribute to a deeper understanding of the legal questions shaping our societies and economies. It also permits to draw parallels from different legal orders and assess future trends of cross jurisdictional convergence and divergence in these areas. The Law School of Athens remains firmly committed to promoting and hosting similar international initiatives, further reinforcing its global outlook and its role as a hub of international academic dialogue.

We plan to coorganise the next iteration of this Conference next year in Beijing.

We wish to express our gratitude to Vice Rector Prof. Dr. Sophia Papaioannou and to Dean of the Law School, Prof Dr. Dr. K. Christodoulou for their welcome introduction. We warmly thank all speakers, participants and partner institutions for their contribution to the success of this initiative, especially to Vice President of HCC, Hara Nikolopoulou and Vice President of HCMC, Natasa Stamou.

A special thank you is due to Prof. Alexandra Mikroulea and Associate Prof. Emmanuel Mastromanolis for their dedication, vision and tireless efforts in organising this outstanding conference.
