Dear students,
Welcome to the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens (NKUA) School of Medicine.
A few words about us
The NKUA founded in 1837, was the first university in the newly established modern Greek State as well as in the Balkan and eastern Mediterranean area and it has since played a significant role in fostering academic knowledge and culture throughout the region.
Nowadays, NKUA is among the largest universities in Europe with 43 Departments, 65.930 undergraduate, postgraduate and doctoral students, 2.189 teaching staff and 1.095 administrative staff.
The core of the future of NKUA is in the development of research and education, innovation and internationalization. Within this context, the University Authorities place particular emphasis on issues like globalization and diversification of higher education. The ERASMUS+ exchange programme is considered among the most significant means to achieve this objective.
APPLICATION PROCEDURE
1. Application Procedure for nominated students
Partner universities send their nominations at the Department of European and International Relations. (erasmus@uoa.gr)
Upon receipt of the nominations, students will receive a welcome email from the Department of European and International Relations with instructions regarding the Application procedure which includes the following:
Students will receive the Acceptance Letter from the Department of European and International Relations after submitting all required documents.

2. Selection of courses
a) Incoming students should review the list of obligatory and elective courses available to Erasmus+ students. Please note that the course list is updated at the end of each academic year. Therefore, students may prepare their course schedule based on the previous academic year’s dates.
b) After selecting courses, students should contact the Secretariat of the School of Medicine (erasmus@med.uoa.gr) promptly in order to send their list with the selected courses. The School of Medicine will prepare an indicative study schedule and ensure the availability of the selected courses. After finalizing the schedule, the student may proceed with the completion of the Learning Agreement (OLA), which will be signed by the Academic Coordinators of both Universities.
NOTE:The School of Medicine will make every possible effort to meet the students’ selection of courses. However, the final study schedule will depend upon availability of the training positions in the various clinics/departments.

FURTHER STEPS ONCE AT THE SCHOOL OF MEDICINE
1. Registration procedures / ID card
Students upon their arrival are required to visit the Secretariat of the School of Medicine in order to proceed with their registration. (Location: 75 Mikras Asias str., 11527 Goudi, Athens, 13 Building, 1st floor)
The documents needed for their enrollment are the following:
After the enrollment, the Secretariat will send to the students by email their personal registration number (13 digits) along with their academic credentials (username & password). By using their Username and their Password they can apply for their Academic Identification Card (Academic ID Card) by using the helpful guidelines which will be sent to their email address.
2. Academic Identification Card (Academic ID Card)
The Academic Identification Card (passo) identifies an Erasmus student as a student at the NKUA, and it gives the right of access to libraries, sport facilities, museums etc. It also enables them to buy at half of the regular price, tickets or cards for all means of transport. The card must be presented to controllers of public transportation organization whenever there is a ticket control. Please note that the issuing of the card may take approximately two weeks.

GOING BACK HOME
Before the departure of the incoming students for their home country, there are a few important steps that they have to take care of:
Upon completion of each course, students should collect the completed Evaluation Form and submit it at the Secretariat of the School of Medicine erasmus@med.uoa.gr)
Transcript of Records (ToR)
In order for the students to receive the Transcript of Records they have to follow the steps below:
The Transcript of Records is issued by the Secretariat based on the evaluation forms and it will be sent to students within approximately five weeks after the Secretariat receives the Evaluation Form for the last course attended.

WELCOME DAY/EVENTS
Each academic year, the NKUA is welcoming incoming students for both the winter and summer semester, at the Main Building, 30 Panepistimiou Str, 10679, Athens.
An email invitation is addressed to every incoming student.
The National and Kapodistrian University of Athens does cooperate only & strictly with our Erasmus Student Network ESN KAPA ATHENS organization. It is strongly recommended to participate only in events (excursions, trips, etc.), which are organized by the ESN KAPA ATHENS and to which you are invited. Please avoid participating in events that are hosted by organizations that pretend to be functioning under the ESN umbrella for safety reasons.
